Canadian Pacific’s Christmas (Holiday) Train

Posted by Jeff on December 2, 2008

Being the nutty railfan that I am, and my wife being the loving wife that she is, we braved the cold and the wind to watch the Canadian Pacific Railway’s Christmas (Holiday, as they now call it) train come rolling into Nashville, Ontario (between Bolton and Kleinburg, in the city of Vaughan).

A good time was had by all, but I froze solid taking this video, so please enjoy.  :-)

Don’t look into the light, Jeff!!!

So, CP does this every year? How do you get a ticket to sit in one of the cars?

CP does do this every year, John – for the past ten or so. I’m not sure you can get a ticket to sit on the cars, though at the stops, I think Santa invites kids up into one of them; the rest are sleeping, eating, etc. accommodations for the people putting on the concerts at every stop.

About 5 years ago, I chased it from just west of Chatham into Windsor. It was quite a sight, especially on that flat ground!

Thanks so much for the video….we went last year and we have yet to forget how cold we were. It is a really chilling site to see it come from nowhere so beautifully lit and with music and all. One really gets goose bumps. We could not make it this year and your video from the warmth of our home was really good to watch. Thanks so much.

This is to say that you Jeff will be in our prayers especially on the 11th January 2009, when you formally take up your Pastoral responsibilities at St. Paul’s. Our Greetings to the Pastoral Committee and the congregation.
